Model-based dynamic reconfiguration in complex critical systems

Considerations on the many and varying factors influencing the choice of the most appropriate “reconfiguration” in complex, fault tolerant system raise the need for a general dependability manager solution. Such dependability manager has to be able to react dynamically to variations of the system (namely, fault occurrences) and/or environment characteristics (e.g., specific user needs, traffic load variations) in order to achieve the desired dependability level. Our group has recently started to approach such problem with reference to maintenance issues in wireless systems; the framework of the IST-2001-38229 CAUTION++ project, going to start on 1st November 2002, offers a challenging opportunity to investigate on this topic.
